“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.”
Isaiah 43:18 NIV
As the chill of winter fades and the first hints of spring emerge, baseball fans across the world anticipate one of the most exciting days of the year: Opening Day. This day is not just a marker in the sports calendar; it’s a symbol of renewal and fresh starts for athletes, coaches, and fans alike. It’s a time to set aside the successes and failures of the past season and embrace the possibilities that a new year brings.
As we look forward to a new season, it’s easy to get caught up in our past. We might find comfort in previous success, or think our past mistakes are too big or small for God to handle. These thoughts can impede growth. Holding onto previous achievements can lead to complacency, hindering motivation to improve and adapt to new challenges. Dwelling on past disappointments can keep you in a state of regret or despair, preventing us from seeing new blessings from God.
Pray to God for help in forgetting what needs to be forgotten, and letting go of what’s holding you back. Allow Him to heal any lingering pain or disappointment so you can move forward. Allow Him to remove any pride that may come from past success, and cause self-satisfaction. Ask God to help you see the new things He’s doing in your life.
